About the Employer

The Torrance Unified School District consists of 17 elementary 8 middle 4 high schools 1 continuation and 1 alternative high school. The District also has 3 adult school Unified was established in 1947 and unified in 1948 and is nestled in the heart of the South Bay in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County. Our District is bordered by the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the south the beach cities - Redondo Hermosa and Manhattan Beach - to the west and the cities of Lawndale and Hawthorne to the north. The District serves the entire City of Torrance and is governed by five school board members from five trustee Statement:The Torrance Unified School District strives to ensure that each and every student is educated and prepared to succeed in life. CLASSROOM TEACHER

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP

Directly responsible to school principal or designee.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

planned instruction in each subject assigned to teach.

course of study specified in state law and school district regulations.

learning experiences to encourage maximum growth for each student.

and use appropriate materials available in the district for students and subjects assigned.

pupils academic and social growth keep appropriate records and communicate with parents and staff on the individual pupils progress.

pupil needs and consult with other professional staff records in assessing and helping pupils solve health behavioral and learning problems.

basic student records as required.

and participate in faculty meetings.

professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

professional relationships with students with colleagues and between school and home.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MANAGEMENT OF LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND CONTROL

a standard of classroom control that allows effective learning to take place.

a classroom environment that is conducive to the growth of student responsibility and self-control.

an atmosphere that stimulates inquiry self-expression and individual growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OTHER DUTIES

equally insofar as possible in the supervision of pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the working day.

equally insofar as possible in faculty responsibilities during the working day.

in the supervision and/or sponsorship of student activities in terms of teacher interests and school needs.

in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level.

Requirements / Qualifications

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENT: Must have a valid California CTE Information Technology credential or Designated Subjects Computer Applications credential or Designated Subjects Computer Programming credential.
